Well, here it comes – the great day of St. Valentine! A little history on this lovely day, if I may. It is said (legend) that St. Valentine, during his imprisonment in Rome, performed numerous weddings for Roman soldiers who were forbidden to marry. According to legend, St. Valentine restored sight to the blind daughter of his judge. He then wrote her a letter, signed, “Your Valentine” as a farewell before his execution for refusing to renounce his faith to his Roman captors.
The feast of St. Valentine was established by Pope Gelasius in AD 496, to be celebrated on February 14 in honor of St. Valentine the martyr. He was martyred in AD 269. In the 18th century England, it became a tradition to express love to a dear one by giving flowers, sweets, and cards, known as Valentine’s cards. It is actually a Feast Day in the Anglican, Lutheran, and various Eastern Orthodox churches.
Here’s an interesting factoid: in Saudi Arabia, in 2002 and 2008 the religious police banned the sale of Valentine’s cards because they are symbols of a Christian holiday. This created a black market for roses and wrapping paper in the color red.
Why is the color red the tradition of Valentine’s day? Red symbolizes passion and deep love. What better color to honor St. Valentine? As someone who performed weddings for Roman soldiers to marry their beloveds, despite being forbidden to do so. He is, indeed, the patron saint of deep passion and love!

Such a great color! Passion, power and love pulled together to one great color! I love the Glossy Satin in Red. It shines so bright! I think the XDress satin bra and manty looks great! I put them on last night and cleaned the house dancing along to U2’s Beautiful Day album!
