Pillow Talk W/ Hannah: Will it Be Obvious?

Pillow Talk W/ Hannah: Will it Be Obvious?
I've got quite bushy eyebrows, which detracts from my desired look when I want to be feminine, even after I put makeup on. Is there a way I could get my eyebrows shaped without it looking obvious when I'm in boy mode?

If I let them, my eyebrows also become bushy and thick and I look a little like Bert from Sesame Street.  I never really liked my brows, regardless of the gender I was presenting as.  So, I started to get my eyebrows threaded.  If you're not sure what it is, look up 'eyebrow threading' on youtube.  Essentially it's an alternative to waxing but it has the same results.

About every two to three weeks, I have them thinned and arched (for a little shape).  They get trimmed and cleaned up and I like how I look, even in male mode.

Do people notice?  Yes.  Do people make the connection that I have my eyebrows maintained because I like to wear makeup and dresses?  No, not as far as I know.  After all, I am not going for the super thin, super arched look that some women prefer.  Having my eyebrows groomed makes them soooooo much easier to "feminize" with makeup.  Since there is less eyebrow, it's easier to cover up with foundation and powder.  It also makes an eyebrow pencil more effective for shaping.

When we do things, whether it's shaping our brows or shaving our legs, people will notice.  Although very, very, very few people have ever commented on my shaved legs or shaved arms or arched eyebrows, I've noticed it's simple to, well, shut down the topic.  If someone brings up my shaved legs and arms, I tell them that I don't like body hair.  If someone asks about my eyebrows (mostly I get compliments, if I am being honest), I tell them I have them cleaned up because, well, I look like Bert from Sesame Street.

What will people think?  I don't know and I don't care.  I don't think people will instantly guess correctly that I shave my legs so I look better in a dress, however.

Really, there's not a lot we can do when in male mode that will not be noticeable.  Wear a bra under your dress shirt?  The outline of your bra straps will likely be visible.  Wear shorts while you go golfing with your buddies?  Your buddies will likely notice your silky smooth legs.  Trim your eyebrows so you look better in makeup?  People will likely see the difference.  I don't think it's very common for someone to say something, though.  I doubt your work colleagues will ask if you are indeed wearing a bra.  They may privately wonder, they may gossip unfortunately, but you need to accept that things we do will indeed be noticed and it's up to you to decide if you care.

Love, Hannah
