Greetings dear readers. I hope you had an excellent Christmas and that you found some pretty things under the tree. Today I’d like to share some thoughts about underdressing. Most likely, you and I are in the same boat. I can’t really wear outerwear beyond the privacy of my own home. Perhaps some of you can pass and outerwear is an option. If so, good for you! Frankly, I am a very long way from passing and, living in a very conservative part of the country, I’d have to have a death wish to even try.
All that being said, we can still connect with the inner femme by underdressing. There are so many wonderful options – panties, bras, camisoles, garters with stockings. Ah, such fun. By the by, I didn’t include pantyhose. If you can wear them, more power to you. I tried it a couple of times, but by the end of the day, I felt like I had been cut in half and neutered. Not a nice feeling.

Do you underdress for work? I have found that underdressing under my power suit has greatly reduced the stress of my job. I like sitting in a meeting with all the other power suits and feeling the caress of my bra and thinking, “If only you knew.” If you have to put on your binary male face at work, that makes it even more fun.
There is nothing more comfy than feeling the slinky smoothness of a camisole under a dress shirt. If you are more of a blue collar worker, a cami may not be the best idea, but you can certainly enjoy some nice satin panties. I had an internet friend who unintentionally outed himself at work. He works on a high voltage power crew. He was wearing a thong. His tee shirt was untucked and he was bending over working on something and his whale tale was exposed. Busted! A coworker pulled him aside and said “You’d better pull your pants up.” The coworker fortunately was cool with it and made no further comments.
So much for work. What about in your leisure time? What do you like to wear under it all when you go to the mall or grocery store? In moderate weather, I enjoy wearing a garter belt and hose under my jeans. I only wear women’s jeans, and if you haven’t tried them, you really must. They are far more comfy than those heavy, scratchy men’s jeans. The denim is thick enough that the garter tabs don’t show.
How about when you go to the doctor? I’ve chatted with some folks online who wear panties to their doctor’s visit and the doctor is fine with it. Is yours? Mine absolutely would not be fine with it. Funny story: a couple of years ago I was getting dressed and felt something sticking the sole of my right foot. I lifted my foot, only to discover I was standing on a wasp. That hurt like a bad dog. I’m allergic to wasps, so my wife packed me in to the car and off to my doctor’s office we went. I had on lacy pink panties and didn’t even give it a thought. We got there and the doc examined my foot. He told me to stand up and drop my drawers so he could give me a steroid injection in my hip. My wife and I looked at each other like a couple of deer in the headlights. Fortunately, the doc had his back to me as he prepared the syringe. I pulled my pants down while concealing my panties well beneath them. In retrospect it is really funny - especially the look of panic my wife and I gave each other. Ah, the challenges of being a cross dresser!

Just for fun, I looked up the Latin translation of “If only you knew” and it is “Si modo iam nosceres”. What do you think – could we form a sorority with the motto “Si modo iam nosceres”? Heck we could even have tee shirts with our motto emblazoned on the front. It could be our secret handshake when we encounter each other at the mall.
So much for my ramblings. I’d love for you to share your thoughts and experiences in the wonderful world of underdressing. Get that keyboard warmed up – I’m waiting to hear from you!
Fond regards,
Angie

I think Nathan has hit the nail on the head. He is clearly from the younger generation who are very fortunate that they live in a non-judgmental world of their peers. In fact, from what I see in the media, anyone who steps outside of what 10 years ago was considered the norm, in terms of sexuality, clothing or lifestyle, is now the new cool and is protected and encouraged in their self expression by their friends.
For us well into our thirties and above, we are actually rather jealous in that we had to indulge our proclivities in private and “coming out” in any sense was a BIG deal. But I see the future as very exciting and hopefully this acceptance will spread beyond the millennials to all of us older guys!
In the not too distant future, I look forward to Xdress men’s lingerie being available in stores alongside the Jockey boxers!
As most of you know, I am fairly new to cross-dressing daily. As such, my wardrobe doesn’t consist of too many options currently, but 80% of the clothes on this site are on my wish list. However, I have a decent collection of panties, the satin & lace bra in black from here at xDress, and some Wolford pantyhose. I have worn all of these almost daily since I started cross-dressing. I also have a lace & mesh body I have worn a few times, but it gets pretty uncomfortable after 2 hours or so.
This includes at work, when I get groceries, visit family, or at the mall when I go shopping with my girlfriend. I have a pretty slim figure, so bras are easy to conceal since most of my males clothes are pretty loose. I have never had that fear some of you have about people finding out I am wearing lingerie. It seems I am much younger than most of you, and have grown up in a more accepting society. This is most likely why I do not have that fear.
With the proper makeup and some body forms, I could probably pass to wear outerwear publically. But that is a challenge I have yet to overcome. It will happen though. And that is because of the continual support I receive online through blogs like this, as well as my ever-loving girlfriend. Thank you for helping us all indulge in who we truly are.
P.S. That motto embroidered on any sort of lingerie would be very exciting.
Layering nylon panties is my dream
I love the term under dressing and do it myself too. Mainly panties and sometimes camisole, depending on what shirt I am wearing. I don’t wear a suit jacket or tie, so although I have tried a matching bra, it shows through the shirt, so that has to wait until I am alone at home. Like Jeff, my wife doesn’t know I like wearing these, so have to be careful. Would never wear pantyhose, but holdups and garters are a different matter, although I haven’t ventured to do this for work. I love the satin feel of the material. When I have some more money or things are on a good discount, I would love to buy some more.
Thank you Xdress. I am happy to be male – it’s just I love to wear feminine styled under garments. Men’s are so boring.
Hi Angie,
Another great post. Like others that have responded I was an executive that always under dressed. I sat at many meetings and more than a few times thought “if they only knew”. I am retired now so the meetings are in the past but I still think this way when out socially etc. I’ve worn panties exclusively for a very long time. I did on rare occasions wear a bra, stockings and garter belt.. Extremely distracting when wearing bras and stockings of course. Typically when I was out of town my fem wear increased as I felt the risk was less somehow. Plus my wife was unaware that I enjoyed these items beyond her approval of panties. My under dressing also includes women’s body care products. Lotions, creams and perfume. Over the years I have completely adopted the female line of beauty products. Rarely have I ever had anyone ask what I was wearing for cologne. Once (a woman) actually said my perfume by name and she was right. I just say that I can’t recall what I put on, I think Polo. I don’t know if this is true with others but I have found the older I get the more fem I feel and want to be.
I love your Latin logo idea. Definitely worth pursuing. I like the logo you see on line “I Wear Panties” but most are hardly likely to wear that on a jersey. I like it being discreet and suggestive. Even a bracelet engraved and certainly on lingerie. Perhaps something even more provocative.
Slightly off subject but relevant. Women have popularized bralettes in the last few years. I love them. They are so feminine, lacey and easy to conceal. I’ve noticed that some of the mens bras in XDress are more like bralettes which is great. They are fairly easy to conceal. Just be careful what shirt of jersey you choose as like bras the outline can be seen. Many years ago on an out of town trip I was outed wearing a bra. A bra not bralette. A guy outright asked me if I was wearing a bra. I was and I froze and no doubt blushed which revealed the truth. I denied it but I suspect he never believed me.
Steve mentioned wearing panties to doctor visits. It felt like it took me years but I wear panties to all doctor visits. Started with a basic cotton panty and I now wear just about any nylon panty in my dresser. You do get comfortable and pretty much have no anxiety wearing them after you have broken the ice a few times. My feeling is if we are going to wear panties we need to commit all the way. Certainly XDress has helped pave the way.
Hugs and Kisses, Keri
